Menorah Home and Hospital is a 527 bed institution which occupies two campuses in Brooklyn, New York.  We designed an expansion and renovation of their 10 acre Manhattan Beach campus on the Atlantic Ocean to enable them to consolidate their operations onto one site.  This $66 million project included a new 320 bed facility and an alteration of their existing 206 bed building.

A new entrance drive and lobby adjacent to the water links the existing and new buildings.  This structure contains a solarium and administration suite.  A glass enclosed bridge on the fourth floor also connects the two buildings.

The facility now contains units for ventilator dependent and respiratory care, cardiac rehabilitation, short term rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and cognitive care, long term care, and an adult day healthcare program.

Nursing units on each floor are composed of individual neighborhoods designed around areas for socialization which include lounges, outdoor balconies, and a facility for dining and programs.

As healthcare architects, we recognize that the physical environment of a nursing facility plays a major role in resident wellness.
