Menorah Home and Hospital
We designed this expansion and renovation of Menorah’s 10 acre Manhattan Beach campus. This $66 million project included a new 320 bed residential healthcare facility to replace their existing building in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, an alteration and modernization of their existing 206 bed Manhattan Beach building and an adult daycare center. The building also contains a diagnostic and treatment clinic, and a specialty unit for ventilator dependency.

Developmental Disabilities Institute
This is an organization providing services to mentally retarded and developmentally disabled adults and children. We designed five article 28 diagnostic and treatment clinics to serve a population of over 1400 day treatment program participants, as well as a wider population similarly afflicted. The clinics contain treatment rooms, radiology suites, dental operatories, therapy suites, and offices. Working in close harmony with our client, we developed a program that called for warm, user-friendly environments designed to make both patients and staff feel comfortable. We were concerned with establishing circulation paths that would be interesting as well as assist in way-finding. We designed sculptural reliefs as points of interest to provide identity for each location. All furniture, fixtures, and equipment were also either designed or selected by our firm.

Cabrini of Westchester Nursing Home
Construction has been completed on this multi-phased $54 million expansion and renovation we designed for Cabrini of Westchester Nursing Home, a 306 bed healthcare facility overlooking the Hudson River. The project will create state-of-the-art nursing units, relocate their convent, and upgrade their public spaces, administrative offices, and site circulation. This will include two new two story nursing wings added to their original 1960’s building and a three story nursing wing added to their 1980 wing. This new design will improve patient care and foster a more residential environment. We also designed an adult day healthcare center in a portion of the lower level of the nursing home. The Center provides social activities and healthcare services to elderly residents of the community.
Gurwin Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
We completed the first section of this 460 bed nursing home in 1988. The project consisted of 55,000 square feet of adaptive reuse of an existing elementary school as well as 100,000 square feet of new construction. This initial phase included 300 beds and a 60 slot Adult Day Healthcare Program. The most recent addition, a $30 million 135,000 square foot expansion completed in 2000, added 160 new beds, sub-acute care specialty units including 40 beds for ventilator dependency, increased the capacity of their Adult Day Healthcare Program to 120, provided more extensive outpatient services including an expanded diagnostic and treatment clinic, and increased their Home Healthcare operations in order to provide a continuum of care to members of the community. We have also added a Child Daycare Center to the Facility. We recently completed interior alterations to the original 300 bed resident pavilion.

Shorefront Jewish Geriatric Center
This is a $61 million campus we designed in Coney Island which contains a 360 bed nursing home and a 13 story, 116 unit assistive living facility. The nursing home’s "neighborhood" design concept allows Metropolitan Jewish Health System to tailor its programs and the level of care to meet the current needs of the community. Each "neighborhood", which is comprised of 18 residents, can serve a target population which can change at any time. Each floor is made up of four "neighborhoods" which are divided into two nursing units. Each unit has carpeting on the floor, warm colors, and amenities that are different from a traditional nursing unit, conveying the feeling of non-institutional design.
Upon completion, the existing nursing home on the site was demolished to make way for a 13 story, 117 unit assistive living facility which we designed.

Upper East Side Psychiatrist Office
We designed these offices for a psychiatrist in Manhattan. The office was formerly used by a pediatrician. We modified the layout, designed new millwork, and selected new finishes, lighting, and furniture for the space.
